Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year, or more accurately, The Lunar New Year.

If you've notice, all time around, during the Lunar New year, you'd hear people wishing and greeting each other.
"GONG XI FA CHAI", "SHEN TI JIEN KANG", "WAN SHI RU YI" and the zillions of other wishes and greets.
And, I had the fortune of listening to an elder talking about it.
At least, from his own Christian point of view.
"The base of all those wishes and greetings is blessings"
Blessings, defined, at least in human logical term, means, happiness - in some sort of way, it is.
And as you and I know, all this Lunar New Year stuffs have been handed down to and through the many generations.
Lets analyze this statement.
If traditions have been handed down through the many generations and the base of these traditions are blessing. It must mean that since olden times, people have been seeking blessings(of any sorts).
It does sort of mean that these are the sort of things that have been in the human nature since, hmmm, long ago.
You may not notice, people do have different understanding of blessings but basically, the outcome of it is gratification. Some may think that having loads of cash is a good blessing, because!, it, well... does gratify that person's desire. Some, food, gratify their lust for taste and texture. And there's so many other stuffs which are gratifying.
